We are an exclusive personal training studio that provides private, semi-private and class training for performance and health enhancement. We put every single client through our Functional Movement Screen and Core Stability Assessment, which gives the trainer information about the core strength, mobility and range of motion of our clients. This screen gives us an in-depth understanding of muscular asymmetries and weaknesses, which allows us to design a custom-made program for each individual. This is how our clients get the results they desire.

The Functional Movement Screen (FMS), developed by Lee Burton and Gray Cook, helps the trainer identify any abnormal movement patterns or muscular imbalances that may exist with their personal training clients. During this screen you will go through seven different movements that require stability, mobility, and core strength. As your body executes these movements our trained movement specialists note and record some of your problem areas. After the functional movement screen is performed, a program design phase begins. The personal trainers will design each program after reviewing the results from the Functional Movement Screen.

We are highly trained to work with such problem areas while assuring that you are on target to achieve your goals, whether its weight loss, body transformation, or enhanced sports performance. The Functional Movement Screen plays an essential role in developing a more holistic approach to rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and fitness programs.

What Is a Foam Roller and How Do You Use It?

A foam roller is simply a cylindrical piece of some type of extruded hard-celled foam. Think pool noodles but a little more dense and larger in diameter. The techniques are simple. Athletes and personal training clients are instructed to use the roller to apply pressure to sensitive areas in the muscles. When the soft tissue structures of the body are prehabilitated prior to exercise, you can get the most out of your body in every training session. If you have existing problems like trigger points or tight muscles, use the foam rollers to help your body recover once and for all.

What Should Be in the Best Workout and Post-Workout Drink?

Carbohydrates (0.4 to 0.8g per kilogram of body weight) - The carbohydrate content of your drink should contain high GI carbohydrates that are easily digested. I recommend a 50/50 blend of glucose and maltodextrin.

Protein (0.2 to 0.4g per kilogram of body weight) - The protein content of your drink should contain easily digested and assimilated proteins like hydrolyzed whey.

Amino Acids (3-5g of each) - The BCAA (Branched Chain Amino Acids) may be important as they're the main amino acids oxidized during exercise. The provision of BCAA during exercise decreases net cellular protein breakdown. In addition, glutamine may spare muscle glutamine concentrations and maintain immune homeostasis during training and recovery.

Creatine (3-5g) - Creatine intake increases work capabilities during exercise, increases recovery of ATP-PC homeostasis, and may increase muscle mass directly/indirectly.

Water (2 L) - The amount of water you consume with such a beverage is crucial since digestion will suffer if you have a beverage that's too concentrated. A solution of 4 to 8% is ideal for proper digestion and hydration during exercise. Any more concentrated and many of those nutrients will be completely wasted. To calculate concentration, remember 10g of total powder in 1L is a 1% solution while 100g of total powder in 1L is a 10% solution.
